Dutch representation in international Europan 11 juries
Just as the jury for the Dutch sites comprises a number of international jury members, there are also Dutch representatives in juries in other countries. Annemiek Rijckenberg, former member of the Board of Europan Nederland and, among other things, chairperson of the building aesthetics committee in Amsterdam, is a member of the Irish jury. Europan Germany invited Hans Thoolen, coordinator of urban quality in the municipality of Breda, to join the jury. In Switzerland Kees Kaan from Claus en Kaan architecten is a member of the jury, as is the Dutch-based Belgian architect and urban designer Aglaée Degros of Artgineering. Aglaée is also a member of Europan’s European Scientific Committee.
First step adjudication, October 2011
From 4 to 7 October 2011 the Europan 11 jury travelled by coach through the Netherlands for the first stage of the adjudication. This time the adjudication took place on the competition sites themselves. The jury visited all the Europan 11 sites and attended a presentation on each site. The members of the jury then set straight to work with studying and judging the plans. At each site the jury selected approximately 20 per cent of the entries.
Out of a total of 275 entries 53 were selected:
- for Almere 9 plans were selected;
- for Amsterdam 8;
- for Capelle aan den IJssel 6;
- for Deventer 12;
- for Eindhoven 7;
- and for Leeuwarden 11.
