For participanting designers, Europan 11 started on 28 February 2011 via the international competition web site. But behind the scenes in all countries participating in Europan 11 preparations were already in full swing for the following round. Immediately after the Europan 10 prize-giving ceremony Europan Nederland began recruiting sites for Europan 11. In May 2010, during the international General Assembly, the procedure, the theme and the time schedule for Europan 11 were determined. In December 2010 the sites obtained so far were discussed during the international Forum of Sites in Istanbul.

SIX SITES
In the Netherlands six sites are made available for Europan 11. The sites are in Almere, Amsterdam, Capelle aan den IJssel, Deventer, Eindhoven and Leeuwarden.

INFORMATION MARKET
On Saturday 12 March the Europan 11 information market took place in Leeuwarden. In the unique building of the former prison the Blokhuispoort, representatives of the six Dutch sites presented their site and were available in information stands to answer questions of (potential) participants.
